A hundred years ago, Meri Hōhepa Suzanne Aubert—an extraordinary woman of faith, courage, and compassion—passed away, leaving an indelible mark on Aotearoa New Zealand. Her legacy has continued to help the most vulnerable in our communities, and throughout 2026 we honour her life, and the compassion she inspired.
As part of Rau Tau Pūaroha | Celebrate Compassion 2026, a series of events across the motu marks this centennial year. At each gathering, a Centennial Candle has been present—symbolising Meri Hōhepa’s enduring influence and continued presence among us.
